Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is a leading university in Kazakhstan. According to a research by the international rating agency QS in the UK, KazNU in 2019 entered the top 210 of the best world universities in 2019. Also KazNU is one of the 50 most technologically advanced universities in the world. In the ranking of the famous international organization Great Value Colleges, KazNU is the only representative of not only the CIS countries, but also Eastern and Central Europe. As well as Singapore and Japan, it represents the entire Asian continent.

The number of faculties makes it possible to choose any major: from law and linguistics to biology and physics. The number of faculties is 16 so the variety of students, faculty and different events is very high.

Student life at KazNU is very bright and eventful. Current graduates sadly recall the student years spent in KazNU, which became the best memory. Here everyone can find something for his/her interests. The university has many different clubs and organizations: its own newspaper, debate club, student government, sports clubs and more. At the university there is a student service center «Keremet». This is a youth resource center for students, providing educational, medical, legal, financial and cultural services. A whole KazNuCity is equipped for students, which has everything you need: dormitories, a store, a dining room, a copy-center, ATMs, even a beauty salon. KazNU improves its structure to provide the most comfortable life for students.

Classes at KazNU are held in cozy, bright classrooms equipped with the latest technology. This gives teachers the opportunity to use modern teaching methods, such as presentations, applications, and video materials. The teaching staff of KazNU consists of professionals who have received excellent education and love their job. This is very important quality for the teacher and graduates to continue communicating with those teachers who have made a great contribution to their future.

After graduation, almost all students immediately find jobs in good companies. KazNU provides many internship opportunities not only in Kazakhstan, but also abroad. This is a great practice for students and gives benefits for CV in getting a job.

Kazakh National University is named after the great scientist and enlightener Al-Farabi. There is a library, also named after the great philosopher.

In 2020, Kazakhstan will celebrate his 1150th anniversary. The Eastern philosopher called the «Second Teacher» after Aristotle. His legacy is great and people should not forget about it. That is why KazNU is closely connected to the scientist’s anniversary and does everything possible to preserve the memory of Al-Farabi. By the 1150th anniversary of the scientist, his works will be translated and published, documentaries and television and radio programs will be shot. All universities, scientific and cultural organizations of the country will host conferences, symposiums, seminars and many other educational and cultural events designed to popularize the heritage of an outstanding scientist.

In 2020, an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 175th anniversary of Abay Kunanbayuly will be held in Nur Sultan. KazNU will also celebrate the anniversary of Abay and , no less great and outstanding writer and scholar. Abay’s works will be translated and published in foreign languages, documentaries about his life and work will be shot, theater productions, festivals, aitys, expeditions and many other events are planned.

Kazakh National University does not only bears the name of Al-Farabi, but also preserves its heritage for the future generation and honors its memory for the present.
