Al-Farabi Kazakh National University does its function very well. Today, KazNU, which has a long and reach history, is one of the leading universities in the world rankings and is one of the most popular in the training of competitive specialists. According to the research results of the QS World University Rankings, KazNU AlFarabi ranked the 207th place among the 210 best universities in the world also as only one university among higher educational institutions of Asia.
KazNU demonstrated the competitiveness of the higher education system of Kazakhstan among the world's famous universities. Currently, the University is an educational institution and research center for training specialists in more than one hundred and thirty-seven specialties. Educational activities are conducted in accordance with the Bologna process, the credit system of education is fully established, and three – stage specialists are trained in the form of "bachelor – masterPhD". Highly qualified teaching staff, modernly equipped library "Al-Farabi" increases the educational potential of young people. KazNU has an equipped Internet center, complexes for sports, the Palace of students, where there are various student clubs, research centers, as well as a sports and Wellness center for students on the shore of Issyk-Kul. The university has created a perfect atmosphere and conditions to study and develop for students.
KazNU has sixteen faculties and each of them are equipped with laboratories for scientific and creative activities for students. International communication is developed well and bachelor, master and doctoral students of the faculty are annually sent for practical training at universities in Turkey, Germany, Spain, South Korea, the Netherlands and Lithuania.
Besides studies students organize different kinds of events: cultural, educational and etc. As an example, an event for the 175th anniversary of Abay was held by the first year master students and his poems were read in different languages. A lot of conferences and events are organized by students and many important issues on education and learning foreign languages are raised in them like a debate, which was organized by the first year master students, on a controversial topic “the influence of native language on learning a foreign language” where the advantages and disadvantages of using mother tongue on learning foreign language had been discussed.
Due to pandemic, all educational institutions were switched to distance learning. KazNU has created an additional platform in “Moodle” so that students could continue their studies in a convenient format with the help of several programs such as “Zoom”, “WhatsApp”, and etc. All exams were also planned and organized with programs which were useful and comfortable to do test, written and oral exams.
