Бүгін ағылшын тілінің Elementary деңгейінің сабақтарын бастаймыз. Алғашқы дәрісімізде to be етістігінің грамматикалық құрылымдарын үйренеміз.

To be етістігінің мағынасы «болу, табылу» деген ұғымдарға келеді. Ағылшын тіліндегі өзге де етістіктерден ерекшелігі to be етістігі жіктеледі және көптеледі.

to be етістігінің формалары:

I am	мен бар(мын)
He / She / It is	ол бар (-)
We are	біз бар(мыз)
You are	сіз, сіздер бар(сыздар)
Тhey are	олар бар (-)

I am in the room.
Мен бөлменің ішіндемін.

The book is on the table.
Кітап үстелдің үстінде.

Келтірілген мысалдарда to be етістігі жеке дара қолданылған. Одан бөлек, күрделі баяндауыш жасауда қосымша етістік ретінде де қолдануға болады. Яғни, бастауыштың қай жақта тұрғанын анықтайды.

I am a doctor.
Мен дәрігермін

The weather is fine.
Ауа-райы өте жақсы

They are from Paris.

To be етістігі сөйлемнің сұраулы немесе болымсыз түрін жасау кезінде қосымша етістікті қажет етеді. Сұраулы сөйлемді жасау үшін to be етістігін бастауыштың алдына шығарып (инверсия) жібереміз.

Am I happy?
Is the book interesting?
Is he our teacher?

Ауызша айту кезінде not демеулігі to be етістігіне бірігіп жазылады.

is not = isn't
are not = aren't

Оған қоса, to be етістігін жіктеу есімдіктерімен біріге, қысқарып та қолданылады.
